So much happening...

around our house...let me give you a brief rundown!
Miss Grace had her first bath....she did not like it and screamed
her beautiful head off!
We celebrated Sara's 25th birthday! A girl is never too old for Barbies!
My great-great nephew made his grand arrival on the the 10th.
Jagger Ray came with a full head of hair!!
Cooper took a spill off the couch and we rushed him to the vet.
He has a pinched nerve that causes his little legs to give out.
Very terrifying experience, so we have been carrying him everywhere...
it's like having 2 newborns in the house!
While Dwen stayed home with Cooper, I went to a BBQ
contest of my pal, Alex (He's the second one on the left).
Delicious food and great friends...who could ask for more?
At said BBQ, Grace got to meet the twins who were
born just a week before Miss G.
Everyone there thought they were triplets. Gotta love babies!
Here in our corner of the world, we go to a big craft fair every year...
it's tradition! This year, our tradition is being passed along!
A new member in our 'cult', if you will! ;)
Can't shop at the fair without tubes of honey.
Opening the honey, however takes some finesse....
stay tune, we are just getting started!

Weekend happenings...

On Saturday, me, my brother and 2 girlfriends (Kelley and Rhonda; all of which are part
of our scrap cult) went to CKC Scrapbook Convention at the KCI Expo Center.
We have talked about going for several years...but this year was special.
It was Kelley's birthday.
 (Kelley doing some shopping)
(Kelley, Rhonda and I have been friends since high school)
We didn't attend any classes, just the vendors faire, but maybe next year!!

Horror on the Boulevard

Last Saturday night, D & I went to the Boulevard drive-in. It was "Horror on the Boulevard", showing Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and Army of Darkness....all classics! Gates opened at 4 and we were there around 5. Man, is that gooood people watchin'! Freaks come out at night and it was a full moon too! I wanted to snap more pictures but honestly, was afraid to ask people if I could take their photo! There was some booths selling old horror movies, Goth jewelry and t-shirts. There was a costume contest, a tattoo contest and 21 lucky girls got to do their best blood curdling scream into the microphone...making for a very loooong evening. We stayed for Friday the 13th and through more than half of Elm Street....but we are not as young as we use to be and there were too many drunk folks for our taste. I'd go again...just dress down, drive a beat up car and let my freak flag fly!

 (Ghostbuster's car was a P.O.S!!!)
(My favorite costumes, Velma & Daphne...Daph was a dude, turns out we
went to high school with Velma...Shaggy and Fred were also there!)
 (Airbrushed zombies....sweet!)
(Even Elvis rose from the dead to be at the drive-in!)

Over the weekend...

My friend Monica posted about the cool finds she found at garage
sales over the weekend.
My friend Amy, told everyone about the 'Friday Night Lights' burning in her town....
so I thought I would share what I did over the weekend.
(My brothers, the pyros)
We had a bon fire....not the typical kind...but the on the deck kind.
Crock pots full of soups and the smell of a fire....can't get better than that!
(Old friend, Jim, brother David and nephew Jason)

Unless you add alcohol....which we did!
(Me & Rita)
(Nephew Jason and niece Amber)
It was a good time with family and friends...
and a slight buzz!

Yesterday we...

went to the Kansas City Chalk & Walk Festival down at
Crown Center Square.  Artists start with empty squares of
asphalt and by the end of the weekend, these
squares will be transformed into magnificent pieces of
artwork. Sadly it rain Saturday night
(at least at my house it did!) They just had to start over....
(Sponsored by Costco)
 (By a 13 year old)
(Sponsored by Nelson-Adkins Museum) The photo is upside
down....they are excited over at the museum...the three
panels of this exceptional Water Lilies triptych re-unite,
for the first time in more than 30 years.
Kinda sideways but it is Disney's Up.
(This is our friend, Mark's...he was
unable to finish it due to a family emergency.)
Some folks had lil tents set up....
Others just played in the fountain!!
I would have been paranoid someone would wash my project away...
THIS DUDE! This dude is awesome!

Dwen, Sara and I all think this one takes first place with 'Jimmy Hendrix' is a close 2nd.
(Sponsored by Micheal's....The Goonies!)

Renaissance Festival

Every year my daughter and I {with friends} attend the Ren Fest! Its sort of a tradition. Sara's birthday is at the beginning of September and my nieces birthday is at the end of September and when they were little, it was their thing to do...for their birthdays. Adam and his cousin always did laser tag. So, we went last Sunday with our friends, Sue & Kendra. We had a great time.

Sara isn't into taking pictures with the people of the fair or putting her face into these....she says, I have tons of pictures growing up of these. Kendra was a good sport and humored me....
I was excited to see a Gnome....he made me laugh!
Yes, I am a big goofball....for the record!
Sara, Sue & Kendra...walking and shopping.

Sue & I have been friends for years....since middle school. She's awesome!
It is a great tradition....

Joy!

That's the word for today....Joy! Brought to you by the letter 'J'.

This is my truck.... my 2001 Ford Escape...I have a ton of memories in that truck. I taught my kids to drive in it. My Franky boy loved going bye-bye in it. We took our very first family road trip to Canada in it...(the kids first; not our first) Many ball games, late night drive in excursions, and boy that thing is great in the snow! Dwen has been telling me for the past two years that it was time...time to get a new one. I just love this truck so.....
(My Escape, I had for 8 years-81,000 miles)

We went out Wednesday and test drove a Ford Edge and they let us take it home for the night. We both loved it. So much so, I got one the next day!! It came from Iowa and I got to pick it up today!
I am full of joy because I got my new car, a 2010 Ford Edge in candy red. Fully loaded!
I love it already.
How did I ever survive after all these years without 'bun warmers' and dual climate control?!!?I dub thee...."Big Red"....I LOVE IT!
