It isn't often that you met someone who shares a passion like this one! (LOL)
(This picture is super bittersweet...my fave car in front of my Momma's house back in 86/87! It is the home I grew up in! Both are gone now.)
(I love this girl! My best friends brother, ran into it while it was park in front of her house...he was drunk, and totaled her out! I cried and cried!)
Oh have mercy, Carol! What a beaut she was... I have so many questions: 1. Original paint? 2. Did you have a "MC" hood emblem? (I did, then someone stole it ~ gaaah. Fortunatley found another one, 50 bucks later.) 3. Did it have the tortuga dash? (Mine did. I'm pretty sure that was one of their 'trademarks.') 4. Was the shifter between the seats? Mine was an automatic. 5. What were your seats? Cloth, leather? Mine were cloth & in pristene condition.
When we bought the car (1983), it was from VA. The original sale papers were still in the glove. The owner was soldier who had served in Nam. He ordered the car. Gosh, back in the day. It had tinted windows & A/C. (Which didn't work after all those years.) I think he pd. $3,000 for it back then. I was SO proud of that car. One time I got stuck in our driveway because of the snow. I called my DH (at the time, who was at work 50+ miles away), & he had me call the service station up the road to pull me out. Long story short, the guy "couldn't" find a place to hook up the chain, so he hooked it up to the bumper. Yep, he pulled it out alright & made my bumper look like a pretzel! I was devastated. We ended up traveling to Carlile (sp?), PA to find another one. Your blinkers were in the bumper, mine were next to the headlights. Oh, the original color was a very dark green. We had it repainted to black. Altho I liked it black, I wish I would have kept it original. I don't think it ever spun over. Can't remember how many miles were on it. Not much.
Thanks so much for this blog entry. You sure re-kindled fond memories for me (and sad ones!) ♥
I forgot...aaah, caught up in the moment! My DH took her off the road for awhile & remained a yard ornie for several yrs. The GOOD thing was, that he surprised me & waxed the car & shined her up nice ~ picked me up ON my 24th b-day, bringing home my very 1st born, Vinny.♥ Wow, felt like a queen. LOL He did the same thing when I brought DD home 2 yrs. later. Sigh. If I only had pics; but only in my mind (which is quickly passing. Ha ha.) Laughing now, but seriously, bittersweet memories. It sometimes makes my heart hurt thinking about the good ol' days. Ok, no more 'wishy-washy' talking (as my Grandmother would say!)
Have a great night. Almost time to retire here ~~ xoxox
My brother bought this one, some guy had it out in a barn/shed/field and sold it for $500. All it needed was some TLC, a little wax to the original paint, and little ArmorAll stuff to the seats...shined like a new penny! Even the vinyl top was in excellent shape. My brother sold it to me and all we put on it was new exhaust. The interior was black, bucket seats with the automatic shift on the floor. We didn't have the hood emblem either...hmm...I believe we had leather seats but it didn't have a lot of extras on it...every Friday night we polished her up and cruised the strip...we were all of 19-20 years old. I wanna say it was 454 Super sport...she sounded soooo goood! I was pregnant with my daughter and would race that thing! Loved it! I always tell my husband... if I win the lottery, Momma's gonna have another one parked in the garage!

Oh Carol, that is so neat! It's amazing what a little elbow grease & Armourall can do! Yep, good times indeed.
