My BFF

I've told y'all about my bestie...Rita. Re for short. She is an amazing cook and I am the most lucky girl because I get to be her 'sampler'. One of my favorite thing she makes is this sausage dip...never made it myself but she gave me the recipe and I am sharing it with y'all today!

Rita's Hot Sausage Dip

1 lb. ground pork sausage

1 1/2 cups chopped onions

1 (10 oz.) can diced tomatoes with green chile peppers, drained

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese

1 (16 oz.) container sour cream

1 Tbsp. crushed red pepper

Place pork sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain sausage and stir in onions. Cook until slightly tender, about 2 minutes. Mix in diced tomatoes with green chile peppers. Stirring occasionally, allow the mixture to simmer approximately 15 minutes. Blend cream cheese and sour cream into the sausage mixture. Season with crushed red pepper.

(Tip: Also added 1 cup picante sauce with diced tomatoes and omitted red pepper)

It is YUMMMMY!
