8 years...

March 10, 2001--
The wedding was fairly simple. We rented a club house of an apartment complex, that had everything we needed; a kitchen, an area for a DJ and a dance floor and most importantly, the right price. It was nice and we both liked it. Sara and Adam stood up with us but they couldn’t really do the duties of the best man and maid of honor, so I asked Jocelyn and Dwen asked his buddy, Jeff (no, not my ex Jeff). It was very nice, just family for the ceremony and then after we planned the reception. So, the big day arrived and my fellas sure looked sharp in their tuxedos. My daughter was a vision of beauty and I was so very happy. Until….it was time and the preacher wasn’t there yet. Someone called him and he totally forgot. He was dry walling and he would be there in a flash. He was, but that was a long ‘flash’. I was nervous but don’t know why. I was glad when it was official and over. We ate some delicious barbecue, the DJ was terrible but everyone seemed to have a great time. We tried to visit with everyone, being introduced to these people and those people. Aunts, Uncles, co-workers, friends, friends’ family and so on…we did manage to get the first dance in and that was my favorite part of the entire event. Our song was “At Last’ by Etta James. Then we danced with the kids to “For You I Will” by Monica, by the end of the song all four of us were together in the middle of the floor. My most cherished memory.

Many people tell us that we are good together, obliviously I agree. He may not be a big strong construction worker, cowboy or even a firefighter but he is MY perfect man. He keeps me calm, he keeps me safe and he makes me so very happy that I actually look forward to our next adventure together; of bunions, memory loss and Geritol.
